Our first unit in science will be variables. This is an introduction to scienctific inquiry skills. Some highlights of this unit include: Generating a hypothesis Identifying different types of variables Constructing line graphs Forming conclusions based on results We will be using a few lessons from the Variables FOSS kit to learn these skills. The activities we will be doing involve making swingers. Swingers are made using a piece of string, a paper clip, and pennies. We will be measuring how many swings a swinger makes in a specified amount of time. We will also be varying the number of pennies used and the length of the string. We will graph this data and make predictions from our graph.
