This is my sixth year teaching at Johnston Elementary School. It will also be my sixth year teaching 4th grade and second year teaching 5th greade! I absolutely love working at JES! The students are wonderful and there is tremendous support from the administration! I wouldn't want to be anywhere else!

Now, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I was born and raised in Aiken, South Carolina and still live there today! I received my bachelor's degree in elementary education from Columbia College in 2005. About a month after I graduated I married my husband Adam. We have been married for a little over four years. In May 2006 I went back to school for my masters degree. Once again I attended Columbia College. In May 2007 I received my masters degree in Divergent Learning.

I absolutely love the beach. I enjoy going to the beach every summer and spending a week there. My family and I love to camp at Hunting Island State Park near Beaufort, SC. I have decided to take my 4th & 5th grade girls to the beach this year in my room. No, we will not be going to an actual beach but we will feel like we're at the beach in my room. So don't worry if you see lots of flip flops and palm trees this year! Those are two of my favorite things!

Two years ago I taught my first single gender class. I had a class of 18 of the best girls at JES! Last year I decided to challenge myself and taught a single gender class of boys. After having both genders I decided that I am a 100% girl so this year I will be fortunate enough to have girls! I am a very strong supporter of single gender education. I have attended conferences and read many books on the subject. Girls and boys learn differently and thrive in an envornoment designed to meet their needs. Check out the single gender page for more info!
