| ![]() On this page you will be able to find information on what we are learning in science. Our science program at Johnston Elementary School is entirely hands-on. During science instruction, students work in cooperative learning groups for investigations. During these investigations we are targeting the science inquiry skills. ![]() We use the FOSS (Full Option Science System) kits to guide our investigations. Our science curriuculum is broken down into four units for the fourth grade: Weather (Earth Science), Astronomy (Earth Science), Magnetism and Electricty (Physical Science), and Organisms and their Environments (Life Science). Our science curriculum for fifth grade is broken down into five units: Variables (Scientific Inquiry), Environments/Ecosystems (Life Science), Landforms and Oceans (Earth Science), Properties of Matter (Physical Science), and Forces and Motion (Physical Science). ![]() For more information on 4th grade science click here.
