Our class rules and procedures make our classoom successful.
At Johnston Elementary School, all students follow the same set of expectations for behaviors. These expectations are to respect self, others, property, and learning. Below is an explanation of how these expectations can be acted out in the classroom, in the hallway, at recess, at lunch, and anywhere else in the school.
- Respect Ourselves
- Do your personal best.
- Ask teacher for help.
- Follow the dress code.
- Respect Others
- Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
- Follow directions given by adults.
- Use appropriate voice levels.
- Respect Property
- Keep workspace neat.
- Treat and return materials properly.
- Ask permission to use others’ materials.
- Write only on paper or designated materials.
- Respect Learning
- Come prepared.
- Turn in homework.
- Be an active listener and participate.
Additionally, there are school wide procedures. In the hallway, students should walk in the first blue square on the right side of the hallway with their hands behind their backs, mouths silent, and eyes looking straight ahead. At lunch we have silent lunch. The students are expected to eat their lunch without talking. Also, during announcements, students are expected to sit at their desks quietly and listen to the announcements. During the moment of silence everyone in the building stops what they are doing in order to observe the moment of silence. These procedures are school wide and should be consistent from year to year and grade level to grade level. |
